Danburite is often confused with topaz for its similarity both in habit and appearances, therefore it needs to be emphasised in its description as its identifying features can be the separation of SG, having no cleavage, and the blue fluorescene.

The crystal may look the same, containing pyramids and basal pinacoids to topaz, however, a notation is required for the distinguishing features such as that danburites have domineering macro-domes, whilst topaz can display bracy-domes.
