Thanks, thats the aim--Doos 09:25, 19 July 2006 (PDT)

hi doos, i see that "lightsource" is recognized as a word meaning "source of light" but american common usage is "light source". if you are using "lightsource" for a specific reason, please change it back. then please explain to me the reason for the usage of it as one word so i will understand it when i run into it in my readings. (have just done a quick spell check, not read it yet, but WOW what a lot of work! Gemma 20:39, 22 July 2006 (PDT)

Hi, was a typo. Thanks for the corrections --Doos 04:08, 23 July 2006 (PDT)

This sentence here "Some gemstones have a lower reading that falls within the range of the refractometer (and the liquid), while the higher reading falls outside the range. Those gemstones will give you just one reading on the refractometer and should not be confused with isotropic gemstones." It is not clear how one would know that they do not have an isotropic stone. One can not know that from the refractometer reading alone .. but should be made aware of the pitfalls. --Doos 09:37, 2 August 2006 (PDT)

do you think the optical character section should follow use of the refractometer and be before the facetted gem RI method? the optical character section explains concepts that are referred to in the facetted RI method. I am thinking if the OC section comes first, the RI method comments about OC would then make more sense to a newbie. Gemma 20:52, 1 August 2006 (PDT)

Not sure. The operation (use) section applies to all facetted gems, not only to doubly refracted ones. I chose to put it there as it applies to facetted gems only. --Doos 09:37, 2 August 2006 (PDT)

i checked spelling and flow of words. did not touch paragraphing nor alter sentence structure. will go on to the next page on the list. Gemma 19:30, 16 October 2006 (PDT)

optical character

I'm not too content with the explanation in the opt. char. section. I thinks it needs a rewrite --Doos 05:08, 30 December 2006 (PST)
