Talk:Akhavan - Treforze

I've written two designs that mimic the Triforce from Legend of Zelda. Not quite the exact same shape, though - this is a bit more cushion-y. This was actually the original design, which I wrote for an obnoxiously shaped piece of blue orthoclase feldspar, that I sawed off from what I intended to be a USFG entry. It's surprisingly good at light return, and has a very interesting reflection off the bottom, for having so few facets and such a bland shape. It's very reminiscent of a snowflake.

This pattern can be cut from feldspar to rutile (RI = 1.52 - 2.62) with no changes.

There's nothing tricky about cutting this. Nothing. This would make a great beginner's stone, for a first-time triangle. It would even be really easy to set, and somehow it magically turned out really shallow, a huge shock for something with an RI as low as orthoclase.

Difficulty level = low beginner

Post-test cut additions:

The P2 facets can definitely be prepolished in, and will go fast. The C2 facets are extremely easy to overcut. Most importantly, if your girdle outline is off, and you're getting crappy crown meets, make sure that the C2 and T facets still form the perfect triangle-inscribed-triangle, and fudge the errors to the girdle meets, where nobody will see them.
