This standard brilliant round weighs 1.37 carats. This rather heavily included hot pink tourmaline came in a lot of "salad",(a name Brazilians give to lower grade native cut tourmaline) from Brazil. I have not gotten much tourmaline from Brazil since I haven't found much rough available or interesting. I decided to get some "salad" regardless of it purity just for examples of color. This stone is one of the few that added color to the collection. The most interesting piece of all, can't be part of the collection because it is just specimen grade. It has alternating bands of blue and purple that could mean copper, but has been tested by electron beam and found to contain only iron.
