Auguste Victor Louis Verneuil (born 1856, died 1913) was a French chemist and one of the pioneers in the manufacture of synthetic gemstones. His 1893 flame fusion method, or " Verneuil process" is still used today to grow a wide variety of gemstones as synthetic corundum and spinel.

He was a lab assistent to Edmond Frémy (1814-1894) and held a PhD in science.
