Beginner Marquise - Michiko Huynh

This is an easy to cut marquise design. It is not complicated, but a good practice design for

1) cutting a keel in the pavilion,

2) cutting a checkerboard, and

3) cutting Low-angle facets (the facets D and E).

Cut the pavilion following the diagram. Learn where to pay attention when cutting a checkerboard. The facets D and E are not extremely low angles, but an inexperienced faceter may have an accident of the off-the-dop and flying stone. Start cutting those facets by setting the mast height so the stone is barely touching the lap and proceed carefully.

It is good for most gem materials. Also good for a shallow and narrow rough.
